Thanks to modern technology, DNA can now be stored at room temperature—protected by stainless steel, glass, and noble gases.
We will extract DNA from the sample you provide and preserve it in our partner laboratory.*

Your most valuable information is protected by:

• A stainless steel capsule sealed with a laser-welded lid.

• A glass insert filled with argon and helium.

• Printed identification codes.

The method we use is also employed to preserve genetic material by leading laboratories and for synthetic DNA used in data storage.

Once you place an order, we’ll send you a sample collection kit (a cheek swab) and instructions for sending it back to our lab.

You’ll receive your preserved DNA at your address in about 30 days (in rare cases, it may take up to 60 days).

The price includes DNA from one individual in a single capsule.

It’s also possible to preserve DNA from living animals or bones (older samples may yield only partial DNA and incur additional fees—details available via email).

Our partner lab has conducted experiments and simulations confirming that DNA preserved in this way can last at least 100 years. After that period, if degradation begins, it can easily be digitized or used to create a synthetic copy, allowing it to last 10,000 years or more. It's also possible that no further processing will be needed. We assume that future generations will be able to assist with checking and reprocessing even after 100 years (this service will be free of charge, provided the capsule is stored with us or delivered to us).

DNA Sample Collection Instructions

Preparation:

• Collect the sample at least 1 hour after eating, drinking, smoking, or brushing your teeth.

• For best results, rinse your mouth with water just before collecting the sample.

Before collecting the sample:

• Do not eat, drink, chew gum, or brush your teeth for one hour beforehand.

• A few minutes before collection, rinse your mouth with clean water.

Collecting the sample:

• Open the swab package by tearing one end.

• Remove the swab carefully, making sure not to touch the cotton tip with your fingers or any surface—before or after collection.

• Insert the swab into your mouth and firmly rub the inside of your cheek or the area under your lower and upper lips. You may rotate the swab as well.

• Apply moderate but firm pressure. Sample collection time: 30–60 seconds.

Storage and Shipping:

• Place the swab tip into the provided test tube, between the plastic separator and the cap.

• Cut the stick with scissors so the tube can be closed properly with the cap.

• Store the sample at 15–30°C (59–86°F), away from light and heat to maintain integrity.

Send the sample back to us as soon as possible.
