Preserve DNA with Epigenetics. A service for safeguarding non-isolated DNA along with its epigenetic data, until the development of technologies that allow for cheaper and more precise reading and storage of epigenetic information.

Thanks to our solution, you can store DNA with epigenetic markers at room temperature, protected by titanium, glass, argon, and epoxy resin. We estimate that the epigenetic integrity of the sample will remain intact for over 10 years. For DNA alone, over 100 years.*

Your DNA, collected via a cheek swab, is transferred to a buffer, additionally preserved with trehalose and sucrose, and then dried. The DNA is stored in a glass insert filled with argon, as is the interior of the titanium capsule, which is sealed with PTFE tape. The entire capsule is then embedded in epoxy resin. This ensures that the sample can be stored at room temperature.

Your most valuable information is protected by:

After placing your order, you’ll receive a sample collection kit (cheek swab) and return packaging to send it back to our lab.

You’ll receive your preserved DNA at your address within approximately 21 days after we receive your sample.

It is also possible to preserve DNA from living animals, as well as from bones (for older samples, DNA may not be complete; additional charges apply — information available upon request via email).

How do you extract a capsule from resin? The simplest way is by using a chisel and a hammer. Caution is necessary during splitting—wear safety goggles and gloves. With this method, pieces of resin, often sharp, can fly off several meters away.

Note: This is an experimental service, intended for individuals seeking non-standard archiving methods. For standard applications, we recommend conventional methods, such as cryopreservation. Please note that we do not isolate or check the quality of the DNA sample. It’s important to collect the cheek swab correctly and follow the provided instructions to secure the sample in the supplied vial.

The epoxy resin layer may contain scratches and other minor imperfections that do not affect its protective properties.

DNA Sample Collection Instructions

Preparation:

  • Collect the sample at least 1 hour after eating, drinking, smoking, or brushing your teeth.

  • For best results, rinse your mouth with water right before collecting the sample.

Before sample collection:

  • For one hour prior, do not eat, drink, chew gum, or brush your teeth.

  • A few minutes before sampling, rinse your mouth with clean water.

Sample collection:

  1. Open the swab package by tearing it at one end.

  2. Remove the swab carefully, avoiding contact with the tip — do not touch the cotton end with your fingers or any object, before or after collecting the sample.

  3. Insert the swab into your mouth and firmly rub the inside of your cheek or the area under your upper and lower lips. You can also rotate the swab.

  4. Use moderate but firm pressure. Sample collection time: 30–60 seconds.

Storage and shipping:

  1. Place the swab tip into the provided vial, between the plastic separator and the cap.

  2. Cut the stick with scissors so the vial can be securely closed.

  3. Store the sample at 59–86°F (15–30°C), away from light and heat sources to maintain integrity.

Send the sample back to us as soon as possible!


After this period, if stability begins to decline, the sample can easily be digitized or turned into a synthetic copy to preserve it for 10,000 years or more. There is a chance it may last even longer without additional processing. We assume that our successors will be able to assist with verification and further preservation, even 100 years from now (this service will be free, provided the capsule is stored with us or delivered back to us).
